Piping
LSPB's piping corps is tutored by Margaret MacMaster.
Margaret is employed by The Highland Council as an instructor
of piping for Lochaber. She has been in this post since October
1999 but she has had a long association with the band. Margaret
was one of the first pupils in Lochaber to benefit from the
appointment of full time piping instructors and was taught by
the late Pipe Major Evan MacRae. She was a member of the pipe
band from the ages of 10 to18. After 3 years teaching Chemistry
in Wick, where she was a member of the Wick Royal British Legion
Pipe Band, Margaret returned to Lochaber to take up a teaching
post at Lochaber High School. During this time she helped, Alex
MacDonald with the running of the band and with band visits
to France and New Zealand. After teaching in Methil for 5 years,
Margaret returned to Fort William to take up her current post.
